“To stay young…to feel young, stay active” – that’s what medical doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists and gerontologists all tell us. We know many of you seniors out there are doing wonderful things, either professionally, recreationally or as volunteers. So we’d like you to share your youthful experiences with us and the rest of our subscribers, in the spirit of SeniorPremierDating.com
To get things started here’s a bit of what we have been doing in our “seniorhood”. All the people whose experiences I will share are in their 70’s (except one who is a recent senior).
Next week I will be 74 years of age. I received a Ph.D. in urban planning from UCLA in 2003 when I was 65, having begun the full-time daytime program 6 years earlier at the age of 59. In addition to being CFO of Senior Premier Dating, LLC, I am president of a senior housing development firm that I founded, California Seniors Santa Barbara, LLC
My wife Elaine has a full-time private practice in providing psychotherapy services. Last summer she came up with the innovative idea of starting a senior and boomer dating and companionship web site and business, Senior Premier Dating, LLC, and is now president and the spark plug of the whole operation.
Emmy-award winning and Oscar-nominated, Joe Bologna and his wife Renee Taylor, are still pumping out plays, acting on TV programs and in movies, and go on tour around the U.S. performing their plays to adoring crowds. We like them so much we invited them to be not only partners in Senior Premier Dating, LLC, but to act as spokespersons to the web sites by providing original humorous videos. You can see them on our web sites.
Our fifth managing partner, Aileen, just retired from two roles, only to take up an active participation in our new web site business. Until recently she was a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City and until May of this year, president and founder of the National Italian American Women’s Organization.
Finally, we have the “baby” of the group – my younger brother Richard. He’s a former boomer who just turned senior. Richard is going to become famous for his stylistic piano playing and his incredible gift for writing popular music. Recently he joined a major real estate brokerage firm in the San Francisco Bay area.
Not to be outdone by the rest of us, Richard is the “boots-on-the-ground” promoter of both of our boomer and senior dating web sites. How does he do this? By going to dances (and dancing) with his much younger girl friend, handing out our flyers and promoting our sites face-to-face and by word of mouth. Oh yes, and Richard is the head and founder of the Silicon Valley Coffee Club, with 250 members who meet regularly for coffee and fun.
So, stay active to stay young! We know we are not alone in this youth movement among seniors and boomers, so share your experiences with us. And remember, age is just a number. But youth is an attitude. Let’s hear from YOU!

When I turned 65 I decided I wanted to earn a black belt in one of the martial arts; I wanted to have the belt by the time I turned 70. My kids thought I was crazy giving me all the more reason to forge ahead. I wanted to be a good model for them of what it meant to become a senior citizen. I am happy to say that I received my black belt in Shaolin Kempo two after my 70th birthday. I am now 75 and have begun a second martial art. Age is on the calendar, youthfulness is a state of mind!
Inspirational for active Seniors our age. My role model on Staying Active is a wonderful psychologist, Hedda Bolgar, Ph.D.. She’s 103 years old and still has an active psychotherapy private practice. She also continues to attend conferences and delivers presentations. Yes, that isn’t a typo…she is really 103 years old.
My goal is to be the male Hedda Bolgar. By the time I get to 103 it may seem young!
